About Sphagnum Botanicals
Sphagnum Botanicals was founded by two friends after discovering the scientifically documented skin benefits of peat. Despite its rich bioactive profile and long-standing therapeutic use, there were virtually no modern cosmetic brands building their formulations around it.
We saw an opportunity: to bring this powerful natural material into responsible, science-based skincare.
What began as curiosity quickly became commitment — researching peat's properties, collaborating with academic partners, and developing formulations designed for real scalp and skin concerns.
Today, we remain focused on one thing: transforming Estonian peat into functional, high-quality cosmetic solutions.
Showcased at the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD)
In 2025, Sphagnum Botanicals presented its peat-based formulations at the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) Annual Meeting in Orlando. Engaging with dermatology professionals allows us to continuously refine our approach and stay aligned with the latest scientific insights.
Estonian Peat, Collected by Hand
Our formulations are built around Estonian peat — naturally rich in fulvic and humic acids. Sourced from regulated peatlands and collected by hand, it is carefully selected for its high concentration of bioactive compounds valued in cosmetic applications.
We use small-scale methods that minimize environmental impact and avoid industrial extraction. Fully traceable from bog to finished product, our peat is responsibly sourced and locally processed.
Estonian Manufacturing & Scientific Collaboration
Our products are formulated in collaboration with Tallinn University and manufactured in Estonia in alignment with GMP standards.
